Major Figure in the Colony
Lord Berkley, Charles II, and the Duke of York account for the granting of an interest ing New Jersey. As well as Carolina. Berkley was the co-proprietor of new Jersey from 1664 to 1674. Berkley was one the the drafters for the Concessipon and Agreement, a document the provided freedom of religion int the Province of New Jersey. He effectivly split the colony into 2 colonies, the East Jersey and the West Jersey. The colony was divided until 1702 when the West Jersey went bankrupt, and was given back to the English Crown, who united the colony again.
